PRECUM- WHAT IS IT ?

Precum, also known as pre-ejaculate or pre-seminal fluid, is a clear, viscous fluid that is released from the penis during sexual arousal and before ejaculation. It’s produced by the Cowper’s glands, also called bulbourethral glands, which are located near the base of the penis. Precum serves several purposes, including lubricating the urethra to prepare for the passage of sperm and neutralizing any acidic urine remnants in the urethra, creating a more hospitable environment for sperm. While precum itself does not typically contain sperm, there is a possibility of sperm being present in precum if there were recent ejaculations and residual sperm in the urethra. Therefore, there is a risk of pregnancy or transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through unprotected sexual contact with precum.
